Current Notes - The Manchester AS Magazine
When regular meetings of the Society were suspended in 1939, Mr. H.L. Dilks began circulating "Monthly Notes" to keep members in touch with recent events. These notes continued for a period, to be re-titled "Current Notes" under the editorship of Mr. William Porthouse who incorporated "Post Tenebras Lux" in the title - translated "After Darkness Light" - reflecting the difficulties imposed by war time blackout. Since then, Current Notes continued to be produced two to four issues per year.
In 2011, we went digital and the magazine is now distributed by e-mail as a PDF file but members who do not have e-mail can request a printed version. With the proliferation of "social media" and other websites, the contributions to Current Notes is dwindling and currently, issues are produced on an "ad hoc" basis when sufficient input has been received.
